Sat. June 22 and Sun. June
23: These were two days of some
pretty hard driving. Saturday we packed BLTPB wraps for lunch and left the
lovely Klipchuck campground heading east. Eventually we caught up with US2.
Taking only a few brief stops, to see Chief Joseph Dam (the second largest
hydroelectric dam in the US) and Grand Cooley Dam (the largest concrete
structure in the US) on the Columbia River, and to eat our lunch in a small
city park, we made it into Idaho in time to set-up our camper in a pretty nice
RV Park about 20 miles north of Sandpoint. The park had decent WiFi so I caught
up on the Blog up to Crater Lake. We also found out, much to our delight, that
the “Going-To-The-Sun” Highway in Glacier had opened on Friday, several weeks
earlier than expected even a month ago when we had last checked. We got two
loads of laundry done while we ate taco wraps for dinner. It was nice to have
electricity and showers after so many nights without. The sky cleared off at
sunset and a full so-called Super moon rose above the trees in the quiet park.
